Is the battery able to be changed on the water?

Changing the battery on the water is possible, but not easily done or recommended. The battery is housed within a waterproof box which is seated in the hull of the Bot and attached via waterproof MC4 connectors to the Minn Kota trolling motor and ProNav navigational unit. To change the battery on the water, the MC4 connectors must be disconnected and the battery box lifted off the Bot and into the RC boat or other platform to complete the swap.  It is also important to note that battery boxes are paired to specific Bots and cannot be swapped at random between Bots without re-pairing.

It is generally unnecessary to change batteries on the water due to the long battery life of the MarkSetBot.  Our 100 Ah lithium ion batteries power the MarkSetBot for 24 hours in normal conditions (8-10 knots of breeze, 1-2 foot waves). Battery life is impacted by how much the Bot must move around (course changes, motoring to course), wind speed, waves, and current. In our experience, in windy conditions (over 20 knots), Bots are able to hold position for 16-20 hours. If extended battery life is needed, reach out at support@marksetbot.com and we can discuss options.
