What features are available to each of the MarkSetBot Commander user roles?

Everything you need to know about user roles and adding users.

There are 4 role options. They are:

  1. CourseSetterViewOnly – User is only able to see the current location of the Bots and any shared layouts, but are not able to control the Bots.  Bot location Lat/Lon is shown in a black popup.  Typically used for navigators who want to be able to add the Bots to their navigation software on the boat tablet/laptop
  2. CourseSetter – User is able to create and view course layouts, set course axis, course length, etc, but are not able to control the Bots.
  3. Mark Operator – User is able to create and view course layouts, control any or all Bots, check the wind instrument if equipped, check battery status of the Bots, and if necessary use the Off-grid Remote feature.
  4. Mark Manager – User is able to do everything a Mark Operator can do, plus they are able to change the names and roles of the Bots, add/change/remove users from the organization, and run our Beta version of the app.

The Mark Manager role is especially important. Anyone with the Mark Manager role can add users to operate the Bots.

Video instructions: Adding Users and Configuring Bot roles

Remember that the Mark Manager is the only role that can add users or change Bot information. As the Mark Manager, it is best to consider limiting the number of Bot Operators to prevent accidental commands or other mishaps during events. Keep in mind the ViewOnly role exists for users who just need to see the course, but do not need to control Bots.
